Take to the Air
Whether it’s a sailing or motorized flight, you can take off over Carynthia and East Tirol from the nearby Dölsach Airfield – highlights like Großglockner trip and the Carinthian Lake circuit included. Paragliding and hang-gliding fans will find that a favorite European thermal region is right on the front door – the Emberger Alm.
Angling or Fishing
The Drau in Upper Carinthia is rich with crabs, trout, grayling, char, Danube salmon. Though the main time of year to go fishing for Danube salmon is in the winter, the angling season is in the spring or fall. Let yourself be advised and join in. Fishing weeks from 17th April to 15th May, and 18th September to 23rd October.
Saddle Up, Let’s Go
You’ll find some riding stables in an area of 20 kilometers, with the popularity of Haflingers & Co. constantly increasing.
Take Your Backpack and Walking Stick
Mountain biking on a panoramic path or bike excursions along the Drau-Auen, past medieval castles, gothic church towers and Romanesque chapels. Bicycles are on-hand in the house. Those who would rather conquer heights of 3000 meters or want to wander on alpine pastures and cottages should rely on the local mountain guides.
Through Gorges and Wetlands
Canoeists and rafters replaced the old wooden rafts of the Drau many years ago. Totally new in the Glocknerhof programme: Canyoning tours through the Oxen Gorge and Gaisloch Flume. Ideal for people who love thrills.
Improve Your Handicap
There are 3 quartz-sand courses with trainers, and a golf facility with a professional golfer on hand for your game, available from Easter until the end of October. Monthly golf-tournaments. Green fee discounts in the hotel! Glocknerhof Tennis Tournament 25th until 27th June.
A Boy’s Dream
Many years of model aircraft experience and over 1,800 satisfied students: Peter Kirchner trains newcomers as well as professionals with brand new glider or motorized airplane models. Get yourself our model aircraft programme 2010. The 28th model aircraft week is in the last week of August.
Everyone Wants to Hit the Target
But only one can win. You can practice here. The FITA – Archery Facility on the Glocknerhof is open all year. The best marksmen assemble here in the Bowman’s Weeks from June 26th to July 3rd and from August 28th to the 4th of September.
